Games Report/WI. USA 2007

Greetings fellow Gordons,
The Wisconsin Highland Games in Waukesha Wisconsin USA went exceptionally well for the Gordons this year. The
House of Gordon / Clan Gordon was elected to be Honored Clan for 2007. And we didn't let them down.

The Games opened Friday night at the Waukesha Expo Center. Which by the way is managed by Terri Adlam (a
GORDON). The CELTIC NATIONS PIPE & DRUM CORP  and a USMC Honor guard led a grand parade. Wisconsin
Scottish's newly formed Honor Guard followed. And the Clans were led in by THE HOUSE of GORDON. It was quite
stirring. Proper anthems and the usual long winded speeches carried us into a haggis ceremony. Mr. Ian Day ( a
Gordon ) gave us a great show reciting the Address to a Haggis. The first time I've ever seen a haggis ceremony
preformed outside. All the flags and swords and flashy dress went very well with the many kilts that formed the masses
gathered for the opening ceremonies. All the pomp & circumstance was followed by live music and of course a fish fry.
After all its Friday night in Wisconsin.

The Gordons led the parade of tartans Saturday and in good form. With standards flying swords displayed and
archers, pretty lasses flanking. Unfortunately our local Gordon piper is in Ireland and could not join us this year. Our
archers took first place in two divisions. Tom (Flash) Gordon took first place in long bow. His son Dan Gordon took first
place in re curve. I did not enter my shortbread in the baking contest due to a lack of information on the web site. But
all that joined us at the tent did enjoy it. Also a wee dram of rather pricey whisky was shared with our guests. Many
people expressed interest and asked many questions. Lots of membership forms went out.

Sunday I did my best to chat up as many other clan reps and officials as I could. Making sure everyone knew the
GORDONS were there. Many plans were made for next year. If we start now we should have the most impressive tent
on the grounds, with the most impressive contents as well. Greg, our clan piper should be with us, and as always lots
of great food,beverage,and pretty lasses.
There not gonna know what hit em !
